SHORT STORY- An emotional moment at Platform…

A gentleman was sitting at the railway station waiting for the train, when a shoe polisher came and said, “Sir! Should I polish my boots?

Seeing his pathetic face, he put his shoes forward, and said- “Take it, but shine it properly.”

The boy started the work but he was not as energetic as the other Polish people.

They said ~ How do you work loosely? Move your hands quickly!

The boy remained silent.

Meanwhile, another boy came. He immediately separated this boy and immediately got down to work himself. The first one stood aside dumbfounded. The other one shined the shoes.

‘To whom to give the money?’ He put his hand in his pocket, pondering over it. They felt that ‘Now there will be a fight or a fight between these two for the money.’ Then they thought, ‘The one who did the work should get the price.’ So they gave the money to the boy who came later.

He took the money but put it on the palm of the previous boy. pat him on the back with love and walk away.

The man kept watching with astonished eyes. He immediately called the boy back and asked~ “What is this affair?”

The boy said ~ “Sir! It had fallen from a moving train three months ago. There were many injuries in the hands and feet. The poor man was saved by the grace of God, otherwise, what would have happened to his old mother and sisters, he is very self-respecting… cannot beg….!

Then he stopped for a while and said, “Sir! Here we have a group of shoe polishers and there is a deity like our beloved Chachaji whom everyone calls as ‘Satsangi Chachaji’. They go to Satsang and keep telling us about the Satsang. It was he who suggested that ‘Friends! Now it can’t work as fast as before so what happened???

God has given us all an opportunity to express our active interest, sacrifice, affection, sympathy, and sense of oneness towards our fellow man. Like back, belly, face, hands, and legs, though appearing to be different, are the same body. In the same way, we all are the same soul even though we appear different from the body! We are all one.

All of us colleagues living at the station decided together that we would donate our earnings from polishing one pair of shoes daily and would also help in its work if needed.

The gentleman was amazed to see such a height of mutual love, cooperation, unity, and humanity in the group of shoe polishers and happily patted his back… and started thinking that maybe humanity is still alive…..
