Three-day ‘Arts and Crafts Bazaar’ Sarjan-2023 organized at Zanana Mahal of City Palace

Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur organized a 3-day Srijan-2023 Art and Craft Bazaar at Zanana Mahal of City Palace. This market will remain open continuously from 10 am to 7 pm from 23rd December to 25th December. In this market, various traditional, useful, and decorative artistic materials of Koftgiri and Damascene craft, which are very attractive in handicraft art, have been displayed for tourists from India and abroad.

Bhupendra Singh Auwa, Chief Administrative Officer of Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, Udaipur, said that there are many types of attractive handicrafts and crafts in Mewar that are appreciated and liked not only in the country but also abroad. These arts have played important roles in the development of Udaipur and Mewar. Presently the handicraft material produced by such communities is a symbol of the living heritage of Mewar. The main objective of the exhibition has been to present it to tourists from India and abroad and make them aware of the local art and artists.

As part of the annual activities of the Foundation, Kaftagiri art, and Damascene craftsmanship have been presented to the Indian and foreign guests coming to Udaipur and Mewar, especially by the Power Woman Society. Director of Power Woman Society, Shyamalata Rajesh Gehlot, says that the society works on many action plans to make the artists self-reliant. Here at the stall, Koftgiri wire work and Dashmik sculpture, decorative materials of various metals, and traditional weapons have been decorated with this art in a very attractive manner. Koftgiri wire work is very beautiful and attractive. Traditionally, this work is done only by the artists of the Sikligar caste in Mewar. Decorative knives, shields, boxes, and many other decorative items have been displayed in it.

Tourists are very fond of the attractive craftsmanship on weapons in the market and are appreciating this art and artists of Mewar.
