City of Step Wells – BUNDI

Bundi, a small city within the State of Rajasthan, holds a magnificent rich history. The massive palaces, the beautiful forts, the unexplored lanes and the splendid 50 plus step wells make Bundi a colossal touristic destination.

How to reach?

You can take the bus, train or your personal vehicle. Travelling in government buses within Rajasthan is pretty safe and most of them, reaches before the targeted time.

In reference from Jaipur, it takes around 4.5 hours to reach via local bus.

(4h 39min (255.3 km) via MDR 1 and NH52) and is a great getaway destination.

Where to stay?

Though you will find a lot many hotels, and heritage properties to stay in Bundi, but Daulat Niwas, a 275-year-old traditional haveli, is an amazing homestay. The serene green garden with palm trees, fuchsia bougainvilleas, and the mountains and forts of Bundi surrounding this paradise will definitely make you fall in love with this property.

The cost for 1 day stay is Rs. 400/- for 2. The rooms and bathrooms are simple and well maintained.

Places in Bundi you can’t miss

Raniji Ki Baori : Raniji ki Baori, also known as ‘Queen’s Step well’, is a famous step well built in 1699 by Rani Nathavatiji, the younger queen of the ruling king, Rao Raja Anirudh Singh of Bundi.

Visiting time: from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and its closed on Sundays.

The entry ticket: Rs. 50/- for one and Rs. 75/- for two.

Foreign travellers: Rs. 200/- for one and Rs. 350/- for two.

Students: Rs. 5/- (Indian) and Rs. 20/- (foreigner)

Dabhai Kund: Entry fee: Free

84 Pillared Cenotaph

Entry Fee: Included in the Raniji ki Baori ticket.

A popular tourist attraction, this impressive structure is decorated with carvings of deer, elephants and apsaras.

Sukh Mahal: Entry Fee: Included in the Raniji ki Baori ticket

A beautiful 2-storied palace by the lake made especially for resting during summers. It is a perfect place to spend your breezy evening. There is also a small museum inside with a good collection of artefacts.

Famous Masala chai at Sanwariya Restaurant, Bundi

It is a must-visit place. Do not miss it.

Rameshwar Mahadev: Entry Fee: Rs. 20/-

After a small trek within the rocky pathway, you can explore the beautiful waterfall and a small temple inside it.

(PS: Carry your things very safely, as this place is home to a lot of notorious monkeys.)

Garh Palace: Entry fee: Indian – Rs. 10/- per head

Foreigner – Rs. 100/- per head

The palace is open to visitors from 8.00 am in the morning till 5.00 pm in the evening. You have an option to hire a guide, who will take you around through the stories and historical significance of this beautiful palace.
