Students explore the region’s natural beauty, geographical diversity, agriculture and rich cultural heritage
Udaipur: Seventy-two students of Maharana Mewar Vidya Mandir, Udaipur, have safely returned after completing an educational tour of Jammu and Kashmir, which offered a blend of learning, adventure, recreation and memorable experiences. The group was accompanied by seven teachers and two support staff members. The tour was organised under the guidance and direction of the school’s Honorary Director, Satish Kumar Sharma.

The school’s Honorary Director said the objective of the tour was to provide students with practical exposure beyond classroom learning and help them understand nature, the environment, geographical conditions, agriculture, history and cultural heritage through first-hand experiences.
During the tour, students visited Srinagar’s world-famous Dal Lake, the beautiful Nishat Bagh and the scenic Chashme Shahi. They also explored the local markets around Lal Chowk, where they gained insights into Kashmiri handicrafts, traditional products, local cuisine and everyday life.
The next leg of the journey took the students to Sonamarg and the historic Zojila Pass. Snow-covered mountain peaks, challenging mountain roads and breathtaking landscapes made the experience particularly exciting. At Gulmarg, the vast green meadows and snow-clad mountain ranges gave students an opportunity to observe Kashmir’s distinctive geographical features and natural wealth.
During their stay in Pahalgam, the students visited the renowned Betaab Valley, Chandanwari and picturesque apple orchards. The flowing waters of the Lidder River, scenic valleys and dense deodar forests left a lasting impression on the group. At the apple orchards, students learned about Kashmir’s well-known apple cultivation, horticulture practices and local agricultural activities.
The educational tour proved to be an important initiative towards the students’ overall development. It helped them develop greater awareness about the conservation of natural resources, environmental sensitivity, geographical diversity and respect for the cultures and traditions of different regions. The journey also strengthened essential life skills such as teamwork, discipline, self-reliance, cooperation and leadership.
The visit to Kashmir thus became much more than a sightseeing trip for the students. It offered valuable learning experiences, a closer connection with nature and memories they will cherish for years. All students, teachers and support staff returned safely to Udaipur.
