Indo East Africa Trade Expo will prove to be a milestone in increasing trade between Rajasthan and East African countries – Chairman, REPC

Jaipur, 5 July. Rajasthan Export Promotion Council Chairman  Rajeev Arora, while addressing the inaugural session of the three-day Indo East Africa Trade Expo in Nairobi, the capital of East African country Kenya, said that this expo is aimed at increasing trade and cooperation between Rajasthan and East African countries. It is an excellent opportunity to explore new avenues for economic partnership.

Addressing the representatives and entrepreneurs from East African countries,  Arora said that the need for an institutional mechanism between the importing countries and industrial associations in Rajasthan was felt for a long time. He said that Chief Minister  Ashok Gehlot understood this need and established Rajasthan Export Promotion Council. He said that REPC is continuously working to bridge the gap between the importing countries and the exporters of Rajasthan.

In the session,  Arora informed about the continuous growth in the state’s exports due to the industrial policies, incentive programs of the state government and the works of the REPC (Rajasthan Export Promotion Council). He told that there has been a huge increase in exports from Rajasthan during the last 5 years, in the year 2017-18, exports were Rs.46476 crores, which has increased to Rs.77771 crores in March 2023.

He said that there are strong possibilities of importing products like salt, sulfur, mudstone, plaster, cement, etc. from Rajasthan in Kenya. He informed that Kenya imports the maximum number of products worth about Rs 512 crore from Rajasthan among East African countries, and other East African countries such as Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Madagascar, Mozambique, and Mauritius also import a large number of goods and services from Rajasthan. He said there is a lot of potential for cooperation in key areas such as automotive, engineering, agriculture, textiles, education, healthcare, IT, drones, and many more.

CEO of the Rajasthan Export Promotion Council  P.R. Sharma said that in different sessions of the three-day expo, importers and exporters would understand each other’s products and new business relations would be established. He informed that in this expo, MLA  Rafiq Khan, Rajasthan Foundation Commissioner  Dhiraj Srivastava, RSIC MD Mrs. Manisha Arora, and 175 industrial units of the state have participated in the expo.
