Four-day certification program started

Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that knowledge of rules, laws, and guidelines is essential for the successful conduct of the election process. For this, the Returning Officer should seriously study the guidelines issued from time to time so that the election work can be done smoothly. Gupta was addressing the four-day certification program (first phase) of the returning officers organized in connection with the upcoming assembly elections in the state at Harishchandra Mathur Institute of Public Administration on Monday. He said that the returning officer has an important role in various tasks from scrutiny to counting of votes in the election related process, and training and certification programs are important for their discharge, so ensure your active participation.
He said that micro-management should be implemented up to the booth level for fair, free, and inclusive elections in the state. Returning officers should achieve the target of 100 percent voter registration through micro-management of home voting facilities, identification of specially-abled people, registration of transgenders and PVTG voters, etc. through micro-management.
In the four-day certification program, election-related aspects will be explained by experts like K. F. Wilfred, Devdas Dutta, M. N. Sayyad, Pankaj Srivastava, Saurabh Rai etc. as resource persons of the Election Commission of India.
