 Jodhur, July 09
On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of Maharaja Hanwantsinhji and the 75th Amritotsav of independence, the General Body meeting of INTACH Jodhpur Chapter was held today at Hotel Chandra Inn under the chairmanship of Maharaja Shri Gajsinhji and Principal Director of INTACH Natural Heritage Department, New Delhi, Shri Manu Bhatnagar. While presiding over the program, Maharaja Gajsinhji said that we have to save our ancient heritage Auran and Gochar only then we will be able to keep the environment safe and protected. For this, we have to make organized efforts. We are moving forward in all directions of education, industry, and medicine, but we have to make efforts in the direction of saving the environment as well. We will not get success in a democracy until the public does not work unitedly. The ancient step-wells, wells, and skirtings of our city have to be preserved.
INTACH has conserved many water sources but we have to make more efforts so that in future we can save water. We have to implement the bylaws only then we will be able to take concrete action in this direction. Chief speaker Manu Bhatnagar said that saving the environment and water should be our first priority. Auran is insurance for us in the future so that in difficult times we can get many sources from this auran. He said that more than planting trees and plants in Van Mahotsavs, we need to plant more trees and plants in the Aravalli region, this will strengthen our monsoon. He told that INTACH is doing the work of documentation of Aurano and Gauchar in Barmer, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaisalmer. INTACH is working to save many lives through PIL. For water conservation, work is being done to provide water for chinkara and many animals. We need concrete action toward water conservation. He briefed us about the activities being done by INTACH and through Bridge Foundation and said that we should save the heritage and get them documented. Documentation is the first step towards saving the heritage. Also, we should work on our historical record.
INTACH Jodhpur Chapter’s coordinator Dr. Mahendra Singh Tanwar told that the members of INTACH Jodhpur participated in this meeting organized by INTACH Jodhpur Chapter. In the first session of the program, all the members were welcomed by INTACH. INTACH co-convenors Bhagirath Vaishnav, JM Bubb, and Pradeep Soni expressed their views on this.
