Free screening of the film ‘Gandhi’ in theaters across the state

To mark the 75th year of Independence, the Oscar-winning film ‘Gandhi’, directed by Richard Attenborough, was screened in theaters across the state for free. Dedicated to the contribution of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi in the freedom movement, the film was watched in large numbers by the students of the state and got acquainted with the life values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The free screening of the film at the morning show will continue till September 1.

The film is being screened in collaboration with the Department of Information and Public Relations, Arts and Culture, and Education. The Information and Public Relations Department had taken special permission from the National Film Division Corporation after the government decided to screen the film. The film is being screened in the districts in collaboration with the local administration.

The purpose of the government behind the free screening of Gandhi’s film is to make students aware of Gandhi’s philosophy and human values. The way relevance of Mahatma Gandhi remains intact even in the present times, similarly, this film is relevant in today’s era as well.

It is noteworthy that the film ‘Gandhi’, which came in 1982, was nominated for Oscar in 11 categories, and the film won the Oscar Award in 8 categories. In this 3-hour 11-minute film, ‘Ben Kingsley’ played the unforgettable role of Mahatma Gandhi and Rohini Hatangadi immortalized the role of Kasturba Gandhi with her performance.

The film was organized in the Rajmandir Cinema Hall in the capital. During this, Director of Peace Non-Violence, Mr. Manish Sharma, District Collector Mr. Prakash Rajpurohit, Senior Gandhian Ramesh Pandya, Chairman of Finance Corporation Mr. Shankar Yadav, Senior Gandhian Dharamveer Katewa, Sawai Singh, Rupendra Singh Champawat, Bhupendra Sharma, Sunil Sharma, Purush Bharadwaj and students appreciated the film.
