Eco-Friendly Homestay

In today’s time, people have come to understand very well how important it is to live in the midst of nature so that humans can get a chance to breathe in the fresh air. In such a situation, many people are planning to build a house in a quiet place away from the cities.

If you are also one of those people, then this decision of yours can prove to be very beneficial for your health. Realizing this, a couple living in the city shifted to the mountains, and today they are enjoying the best life.

Leaving the city and settled in the village

According to the news published on a news portal, Anil Cherukupalli and his wife Aditi living in Delhi decided to leave the city and settle in the mountains to give a new twist to their lives. He left Delhi in the year 2018 and built a lovely house in the Fagunikhet area of Uttarakhand.

He laid the foundation of Thandapalm Thantujel, a beautiful 3-story house at a height of 5,000 feet on the hills from the hustle and bustle of the city. A dense green forest is present in front of this house, while on the other side a beautiful waterfall flows. Seeing this sight, one’s heart should be happy and he should not feel like coming back to the city, something like that happened with Anil and Aditi too. They have built this house keeping in mind the Kumaoni tradition, so this house is beautiful as well as safe.

Anil and Aditi were fond of traveling

While in Delhi, Anil and Aditi worked for various NGOs, so they already had a special affinity for nature. Along with this, the couple saw world life while working in the field of environment and they also loved traveling very much.

Although Anil and Aditi did not have any special knowledge of farmstay, after months of research, they had learned the virtues of building a house and living in a hilly area. They have created architectural practices keeping in mind the Kumaoni culture to build the house, which is eco-friendly as well as earthquake-resistant. Stone and wood are used in such houses so that the temperature inside the house is always favorable.

Along with this, special care has been taken for the strength of the house, so that once constructed, it will stand as it is for many years. In this way, there will be no need to build houses again and again, and neither will the felling of trees be encouraged. It took Anil and Aditi at least 2 years to build the house in the Kumaon style, as they took care of the minute details in the construction of the house. Along with this, he has designed the walls and roofs of the house in the design of the Himalayan landscape.

Temperature controls home

To build their dream home, Anil and Aditi built a two-foot-thick stone wall, so that the temperature of the house was always balanced. This is the reason why this house remains cool in summer and warm in winter from the inside. Apart from this, Anil and Aditi have installed a centralized water heater in the bathroom of the house, while there is also an inverter system for electricity. However, this inverter is powered by solar energy and backed up, which produces 5 to 8 units of electricity per day.

Multiple layers of great water and gravel sand have been constructed to utilize the water in the house so that the slowly seeping water inside the ground is not wasted and can be used properly. Not only this, black water from toilets and sewage is separated with the help of twin pit technology so that excessive water is not spent for irrigation of the field. At the same time, the wet waste from the kitchen is converted into manure and thrown in the fields.

Doing farming in the village

Settling from Delhi to a village in Uttarakhand was not at all easy for Anil and Aditi, but with the passage of time, the couple made a habit of making a living using fewer resources. They also grow a variety of vegetables and spices including turmeric, ginger, cucumber, zucchini, capsicum, and brinjal at their homes, which are a source of income along with meeting their food needs.

Along with this, he has recently started growing Tubum Mange, while he is also preparing to cultivate millet. Anil and Aditi want him to promote permaculture farming on their farm so that a good crop can be prepared.
