Samod ropeway operation banned

Minister of State for Tourism  Murari Lal Meena said in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday that the operation of the ropeway at Samod Veer Hanuman Temple has been stopped due to non-compliance with conditions by the operator. He told that the no-objection certificate was conditionally given to the applicant for installing rope way in Samod Veer Hanuman temple. The operation of the ropeway has been banned due to the applicant starting the ropeway without taking no-objection certificates from the Pollution Control Board, Forest Department, Tourism Department, and other concerned departments.

The Minister of State for Tourism, while answering the supplementary questions asked by the members in this regard during the Question Hour, said that the passenger ropeway should be operated by a skilled person and the conditions and technical approvals for ensuring the safety and maintenance of the ropeway and The permission to operate the rope-way was granted to the applicant by the District Collector on the conditions of taking the consent of other concerned departments by the applicant at his own level. He informed me that it has been decided to stop the operation of the ropeway due to non-compliance with the conditions by the applicant.

Intervening in this regard, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Dr. CP Joshi said that it is necessary to obtain a no-objection certificate from the Central Government as the land coming in the ropeway is registered as forest land. He suggested that the members of the opposition should request the central government in this regard. Earlier, the Tourism Minister said in a written reply to the original question of the MLA  Ramlal Sharma that on the application of the applicant Veer Hanuman Ji Mandir Trust, Nangal Bharda, Tehsil Chaumu, District Jaipur, the Veer Hanuman Ji Temple was approved by the Licensing Authority (District Collector, Jaipur). Conditional permission was granted on June 1, 2015, for the installation of Passenger Ropeway. He said that subsequently, on May 17, 2019, conditional clearance was issued by the licensing authority for the ropeway operation. Meena said that the condition of conditional no-objection was not followed by the applicant and the operation of the ropeway was started without the report of the Chief Inspector of Ropeways as prescribed in Section 13 of the Rajasthan Ropeway Act, 1996. He said that by issuing a notice on June 27, 2019, the Licensing Authority (District Collector and Jaipur) stopped the operation of the Uktap ropeway.

He said that according to the decision taken on November 1, 2022, in the meeting of the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the District Collector regarding the operation of the rope-way in the forest area, the part of the proposed land of the said rope-way, which belongs to the Forest Department, It is recorded in the record, directed the applicant to get duly repatriated. Further action in the matter will be taken only after the reversion of the forest land as mentioned above.
