National Handloom Week will be organized at JKK

Industries and Commerce Minister Smt. Shakuntala Rawat on Wednesday released the brochure of National Handloom Week to be held at Jawahar Kala Kendra from August 3 to 7 at Udyog Bhavan. During this, Special Government Secretary Mrs. Neha Giri, Commissioner  Om Kasera, RIICO Managing Director  Sudhir Kumar Sharma, RSIC Managing Director Mrs. Manisha Arora, Joint Government Secretary Mrs. Poonam Prasad Sagar, Secretary Khadi Board  Brajesh Chandolia, Additional Directors  RK Ameria,  SS Shah, Vipul Jani, and other senior officers of the department were present.

Smt. Rawat told in a press conference that the organization of this five-day National Handloom Week will encourage the products of weavers, handloom, and khadi sector of the state. He informed that 80 stalls of handloom and khadi products will be set up in the event and especially 10 national award-winning weavers will also sell and display their products. He said that with the successful implementation of the provisions of the MSME Policy 2022 as per the intention of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, all possible help from the department to the weavers, handloom, and Khadi sector producers to increase the sale of their products, to arrange the market on a permanent basis. is being given. He said that the event would also help the artisans making products from a special range of natural colors to make their products recognized at the national level and their product sales would also increase. He told that to increase the sale of Khadi and handloom products, a buyer-seller meeting will be organized. He also saw the handloom products of the state displayed in the event and inquired about them.

Special programs will be held during National Handloom Week

Minister Smt. Rawat told that a live demo of the technique of making thread from chemical wool, gichha silk, khadi, sheep wool, etc. will be given at the event to inform the general public about handloom art. Jute, Aari-Tari, Block Printing, Kota Doria, and Sanganer Print will also be displayed by the experts of the handloom sector. He informed me that on August 6, a fashion show will be held at the Rajasthan International Center to showcase the state’s weavers, handlooms, and khadi apparel.
