Diya Kumari Inaugurates Sambhar Festival

“Sambhar is Emerging as a Global Tourist Destination,” Says Deputy CM Diya Kumari

The five-day Sambhar Festival was ceremoniously inaugurated on Saturday at Jhapok, under the joint aegis of the Rajasthan Tourism Department, Jaipur District Administration, and Sambhar Municipal Council. The festival will be held from December 27 to December 31, 2025. The grand opening ceremony took place in the august presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari as the chief guest, along with former MLA Nirmal Kumawat, Additional District Collector Jaipur Ashish Kumar, Sambhar SDM Rishi Raj Kapil, and Deputy Director, Tourism Department Upendra Singh Shekhawat.

Following the formal inauguration at 12 noon amid a large gathering of tourists, Deputy CM Diya Kumari visited the craft and food stalls, interacting with artists and artisans and encouraging their efforts. On the occasion, she also released special postal cards, and reviewed the kite exhibition and photography exhibition.

Sambhar’s Unique Identity Lies in Its Natural Beauty

Congratulating all stakeholders on the Sambhar Festival, Diya Kumari warmly welcomed domestic and international tourists. She said that compared to last year, the festival is being organised on a much larger scale this year, and will be even more grand next year. She emphasized that the Sambhar Festival has now carved a distinct identity on the global tourism map, and Sambhar is steadily emerging as a global tourist destination.

Highlighting Sambhar’s unique appeal, she said its extraordinary natural beauty is its greatest strength. During the winter season, migratory birds from Europe and North Asia, especially the Greater Flamingo, give Sambhar worldwide recognition.

Development of Facilities and Road Connectivity

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government is continuously working towards improving tourist facilities and strengthening road connectivity to promote tourism development in the region.

Appeal to Share Sambhar’s Beauty on Social Media

Diya Kumari urged tourists to fully enjoy Sambhar’s scenic beauty, local attractions and folk performances. She appealed to residents of Jaipur and tourism enthusiasts from across the country to participate in the festival in large numbers, explore nearby tourist sites, and share photos and videos of Sambhar’s landscapes, culture and performances on their social media platforms.

Major Attractions of the Sambhar Festival

The festival features art and craft stalls, a photography exhibition, a food court, along with a fancy kite exhibition and special kite-flying activities. Tourists were seen enjoying horse riding, camel riding and camel cart rides.

At the Jhapok venue, visitors are enthusiastically participating in various adventure activities such as parasailing, paramotoring, paragliding, jeep safari, ATV rides, balloon rides and cycling. Spectacular performances by folk artists are adding vibrancy to the event.

Additional highlights include jeep/car adventure rallies, salt processing tours, bird-watching tours, Sambhar Salt Lake visits, train-based salt expeditions, stargazing activities, Deepotsav and Maha Aarti at Devyani Tirth Sarovar, and a Durga tableau.
