As per the proposal, the Commissioner of Industries and Commerce Department will be the ex-officio director of this Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms. A new post of Additional Director of Industries and Commerce will be created for the Directorate. Services of experts can be taken for the works of marketing, e-commerce, and design experts of the Directorate. Other officers and employees for the directorate will be posted from the Industries and Commerce Department.
Jaipur, 19 June. The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handlooms will be opened in Jodhpur for the upliftment of artisans and weavers of the state. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has approved the proposal in this regard.
The main task of the directorate will be to develop the handicrafts and handloom sector of the state. This directorate will work for the upliftment of artisans and weavers of the state. As a result of which new employment opportunities will be created in the state as well as exports will also increase. In addition, the Directorate will execute various works as per the Handicrafts Policy-2022.
It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister announced the opening of this directorate in Jodhpur on March 21, 2023, at the inauguration ceremony of the Rajasthan International Expo.
