You may be aware that the Department of Tourism, Govt of Rajasthan has taken the initiative of strengthening Intangible Cultural Heritage of western Rajasthan in collaboration with UNESCO. The same was launched at Rajasthan Domestic Travel Market (RDTM) in July 2022.
As part of the same, 9 folk festivals are planned across Western Rajasthan to celebrate their cultural heritage. The first two festivals are Durrie in Salawas (Jodhpur) on 10-11 Sep Jutti & Kasidakari in Patodi (Barmer) on 17-18 Sep. The third one is the Jaisalmer festival on Sep 24-25. The fourth one is the Barmer Folk Festival to be held at Town Hall in Barmer city on 15-16 Oct, followed by the fifth one i.e, Jodhpur Folk Festival on Oct 22-23 to be held at Grand Basant Garden in Jodhpur city itself. The sixth one is the Kalbelia festival on 5-6 Nov, to be held at Chopasani village (11 am to 3 pm) and then at Jaswant Thada (next to Mehrangarh fort) from 4 to 7 pm. The seventh festival, i.e, the Langa music festival will be held on 12-13 Nov at Barnawa Jageer village in Barmer desert. The eighth one, i.e, the Bikaner festival will be held at Ravindra Rangmanch in Bikaner city on 16-17 Nov and the last one, i.e, Barna Jana Desert Festival will be held at Barna Janra villages in Jaisalmer desert on 19-20 Nov 2022.
