A show stopping event marking the return of Regent to Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour

Held in the Regent Ballroom, the gala event brought together a diverse array of VIPs and community leaders. As guests arrived, a red carpet led to the famous white marble staircase, where generations of Hong Kong society have marked life’s most significant events and gala occasions.

In perfect harmony with the “Symphony of Lights” light show, Italian acrobatic dancers transformed the exterior façade of Regent Hong Kong into their stage. The spectacle was the first vertical façade dance in Hong Kong and was brought to life by Il Posto, a collaboration between choreographer Wanda Moretti and musician Marco Castelli. Defying gravity, the aerial performance acted as an artful metamorphosis that blurred the lines between the built environment and the ever-shifting landscape of Hong Kong. Guests also marvelled at the iconic Aqualuna gliding across the harbour, its sails transformed in Regent’s emblematic shade of teal, emblazoned with the Regent logo.

Managing Director Daniel Aylmer, from IHG Hotels & Resorts Greater China, said: “The return of the iconic Regent Hong Kong heralds the growth of our ultra-luxury properties in the Greater China region. With Regent Hotels already in exciting destinations like Shanghai and Chongqing and Regent Shanghai on the Bund scheduled to be the next addition, we are committed to offering our guests a new era of modern luxury hospitality with the next level of innovation in design, décor and service. We aspire to be a pioneer in new luxury concepts – just as the original Regent Hong Kong was when it first opened in 1980.”

IHG Hotels & Resorts acquired Regent in 2018 and has since been working to reimagine the brand. Regent Hong Kong is a flagship property within the new Regent portfolio. It joins Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, Regent Chongqing, Regent Shanghai Pudong, Regent Phu Quoc, and the soon-to-open Regent Santa Monica Beach in crafting the most refined experiences for modern trendsetters. The Hong Kong opening is set to be closely followed by Regent Shanghai On The Bund in late 2023 and Regent Bali Canggu in 2024.

Tom Rowntree, Vice President Global Luxury & Lifestyle Brands at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “As we open the doors to Regent Hong Kong, we celebrate not only a new chapter for the brand but also a journey back to the roots of luxury hospitality. Over half a century ago, Regent Hotels & Resorts pioneered modern luxury, setting the industry’s ultimate standards that continue to influence luxury brands today. With a legacy steeped in innovation, breathtaking views and landmark destinations like Regent Hong Kong, the brand is returning in earnest to redefine luxury once more.”

As part of the IHG family, guests staying at Regent Hong Kong will have access to a best-in-class loyalty program, IHG One Rewards, which is centered around giving members richer benefits and more ways to earn than ever before, all powered by leading technology on its new mobile app.
